NRW Tackle-Corona Cup 2020 Round 3

News_33_-_Intro

Last weekend was the third round of the Tackle-Corona Cup for the Fireballs. The Dwägons were given a well-deserved rest but came to the nearby town of Willich to support the Fireballs. With their first win in the Tackle-Corona Cup and a score of 10:62, our second team were happy with Sunday's efforts.

Just like the week before against Solingen and friends, the Fireballs started the game with a high-tempo and managed to score very early on in the game. Concentrating hard on both attacking and defending, they managed to finish the first 20 minutes with a lead of 0:26.

With the high lead however, they became too careless and tried to keep the ball alive with too many offloads. In addition to that, severe ball handling errors occurred which Willich used to their advantage and scored their first try in the Tackle-Corona Cup. The second third came to a close with a score of 5:45 for the Fireballs.

In the last 20 minutes of the game, the Fireballs came back to their senses and focused their strengths. With a well-structured attack and playing many phases, they managed to score a few more tries. Willich also played smart and scored their second try of this season. Full-Time score – 10:62.

Thank you to the Willich Wasps for the interesting and fair game!

This coming weekend, both teams will have the weekend off. Provided the numbers of COVID infections allow it, our next game for the first team will be on the 24th October 2020 at home against Willich Wasps RFC. We will keep you updated.

Again, we would like to use this opportunity to thank Werner Thorenz and Gabriel Boia for coming to Willich and taking some amazing photos, as usual. Check the on the Gallery for more.
