November is Movember time!

Since a few years now, the Düsseldorf Dragons Rugby Club actively supports Movember.

But what is Movember?

It started as a joke between friends in Australia who decided to grow a "Moustache" in November. They had no specific target at the beginning, it was just for fun. But then came the idea to associate their moustache growing with a charity action. They chose to support the victims of male cancer (Testicle and prostate cancer). The official creation of the association was 2004. The movement became a real success, thanks to the support of the Australian rugby community at the start and the involvement of many celebrities mostly in English-speaking countries year after year. The Movember foundation is a very large association that collected 65 million € in 2018 to support men health. The Movember has allowed to finance research projects to fight male cancers, but also various projects to improve these cancers detection and to support persons fighting these diseases.

But more importantly, the Movember action also encourage persons to discuss about this disease that are considered taboo and raise awareness on the importance to be checked regularly to detect them on time and increase the chances of successfully dealing with them.

So how do we get involved?

Actively support Movember means for us to grow our Moustache during the month of November and ask our friends, families and colleagues to support us financially by donating some money on our Movember page. Some of us also participate to the challenge "60 seconds to act" to raise awareness on the 60 men that commit suicide every hour in the word. For this challenge, we try to run or walk 60 Kilometers during the month of November.

How can you support Movember?

It is simple, visit our Movember Team page or the individual page of any player you may know and support their effort by donating some money. Every Euro counts. You will find more information on the Movember site on how your donation will be used.
