Last year, during the spring 2021, we organised the Dragons Challenge 2021 to keep all members of the club active and connected in the times when training sessions were not possible at the club.

It is with a revisited version of the Dragons Challenge that the End of Season party started on Saturday 25th June 2022.

Four teams (Blue, Green, Red and Black) including children from all age groups, senior players, players from our women's team, mums and dads had to compete on 7 stations involving sportive skills and a lot of fun. For 90 minutes, all the teams did their best to run, slide, pass, kick, drop kick, plank, and more to try to win the Dragons Challenge 2022 and bring the trophy to their team. Congratulations to all participants who did their best and really compete in a fair and fun way.

The Dragon's Challenge was then followed by the "short" speech of the head of the Rugby Department, Thomas Lernout, who gave an overview of the many achievements of the last season and some news about the upcoming season. He then spent some time thanking all the persons who commit some of their personal time to make the club run. Then came the time to thank all our long-time committed sponsors (McLaughlin's Irish pub, Les Halles Saint Honoré, VB Berger) and our new sponsors (HV Sandforth, Kopfspringer) for their support, particularly those who helped financing our new children playing kits.

After many rounds of applause, it was time to award the Dragons that stood out in the last season.

The speech ended with the nomination of the team which won the Düsseldorf Dragons Challenge 2022, and this season, it is the Red team that succeeded to score the highest number of points and win the Challenge. Congratulations to all the Red team members for their win and to all other teams for their participation in the Challenge 2022.

The parents took the chance of this event to thank all trainers and other parents who supported the various children training sessions and tournaments this season and all were given very nice gifts, a gesture that was highly appreciated.

The official part was then followed by what all participants were expecting, the party. Burgers and sausages were very much appreciated and the food on the buffet did not last long either. The party went on with a funny raffle draw were a few members won the prizes they were dreaming of.

The party ended late in the night at the only true Irish pub in town, the Mc Laughlin's where the most courageous stayed to represent the club.

A special note for all the members who have made this day a memorable one by attending the Challenge stations, handling the bar, handling the grill, bringing nice food and nice gifts. We can not thank you enough for your support.

Who will be winning the Dragons Challenge 2023? You'll have to join us next year to find out. We heard that some members have already started to train for it. Be warned, be prepared 😉.

Many photos of the event can be seen in our gallery. Enjoy.
