DJRFC Japanese Festa 2022

News-71-cover-2

A longstanding tradition has been revived on Saturday June 18th2022: the DJRFC Japanese Festa. The members of the DJRFC (Düsseldorf Japanese Rugby Football Club) did invite some Japanese players from teams of countries around Germany, mostly England to play a friendly game against the Düsseldorf Dragons.

It is with more than 30 Japanese players that the DJRFC showed up at the Dragons lair to defy the local team. For various unfortunate reasons, the Düsseldorf Dragons did not manage to commit a full team. But as all players available that day wanted to play rugby, it was decided that some of the Japanese players would rotate and play some time with the Dragons.

Under the very hot sun, the game started with good actions on both sides and some tries scored from both teams in the first half. But the absence of the regular players in the Dragons started to affect their game structure. The speed of play and the quality of rugby of the Japanese team allowed them to finish the game with a strong win.
All players agreed anyhow that it was a great and fun game to play.

The game was followed with the traditional third half which had a very good taste thanks to the Japanese food and Japanese beers brought by the members of the DJRFC. All players enjoyed a great time on the terrasse of the club house until it was time to leave the place and go into the city to visit our sponsor, the Mc Laughlins Irish Pub.

We are already looking forward to the Japanese Festa 2023.
