3rd place in Cologne for the 7s-Dragons Women

News-58-Cover

Last Saturday the Dragons played their last 7s-tournament of the year, which was organized by RSV Köln. The team arrived with eleven players on this beautiful sunny day in fall. The start pools where as usual and so the Dragons started against Hürth. Even though the start was a bit rough, they managed to win 17:12. The crucial try was achieved by our forwards, who pushed through towards the try-line. After a good run from Carol, Laura managed to get the ball down and secure the win for the Dragons. The second pool-game the Dragons unfortunately lost against the strong hosts from Köln 37:0.

In the semi-final the Dragons met as always Eintracht Frankfurt. Coming strong out of the longer lunch break, the Dragons played fierce and lost just one try down 19:14. Driven by the good game, they went strong into the game for the third place against Marburg/Gießen just 15 minutes later. In a great game they won 27:5 with several outstanding actions: one of them was Lisa chasing down a kick from Hanna half across the pitch, winning the ball over; another was Elena spotting the gap on the short side, surprising the opposition and gaining several meters.

The player-of-the-day-trophy goes to Hanna, who just was everywhere!

We really enjoyed the last games and are looking forward to spring, when we start off again. Ending this tournament with the third place was the best result the Dragons achieved so far this season.

In this spirit we all wish you a good winter break and see you soon.
