What was your week-end about? For us it was RUGBY

News 105 cover

This Week-end, almost all Dragons teams had some activities planned.

It started on Saturday morning with the U14 team who had two league games in Bonn against the RC Wiedenbrück and the mixed team RSV Köln and RC Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.
Although the team was short of players, they could complete the team with the support of players from Dortmund and Aachen.
The boys started with a very tough game against Wiedenbrück. The game ended with a scoreof 45 to 35 for the RC Wiedenbrück. Although this game was lost, our young players showed a lot of determination to score a few tries and keep the end score tight.
Against Köln/Bonn, the first half was dominated by the host team. It is only in the second half that our players managed to find solutions and score to finish the game with a final score of 35 : 14 for Köln/Bonn.
Congratulations for the effort and the hard work of the players who made the trip to Bonn.

The day continued with our U16 players. Associated with the Aachen players, our talented young U16 won with a final score of 85 : 0 against the mixed team CL Vets/Bokkerrijders/Wallaby's. Congratulations for this great result.

In the afternoon, our Senior team had to confirm their current good form in a game played at home against the RC Bonn-Rhein-Sieg team.
Although the Dragons showed some good strength in the first half of the game, they only managed to score a penalty try and ended the first half with a lead of 7 points to 3.
In the second half, despite a few mistakes, the Dragons managed to get back into a more structured game. A try scored by Henrik Vogel, converted by David Cosgrove and an additional penalty kick from David allowed the Dragons to win this game with a final score of 17 to 6.
A big thank you to all the spectators who came to support the team and enjoyed the afternoon with us.
That win was celebrated with a proper third half at our famous sponsor, the Mc Laughlins Irish pub.

The week-end continued with the U8, U10 and U12 children tournament in Aachen. The Dragons managed to visit the tournament with almost three complete teams.
The best performance was managed by the U8 team who won 3 of the 5 games they had to play and reached the third position of the tournament. Our U10 team had to play tough games and ended at the 5th position on 6 teams. Our U12 teams also had to play against very strong teams and did not manage to win any gales although they kept fighting up to the end.
As always, the most important is that all children had a lot of fun and learnt through practice.
