The Dragons and the young Dragons almost made it this week-end!

News-112-Cover

On Saturday, the fight on the pitch was hard. Unfortunately the Dragons fell short and lost the game by only 3 points with a final score of 29 to 32.
It is the RC Paderborn that started to put points on the scoreboard quickly followed by an answer of the Düsseldorf players. Both teams worked hard in both attack and defense to end-up with a draw at the end of the first half.
The RC Paderborn started the second half more efficiently taking a lead of 10 points in the first 20 minutes. The Düsseldorf Dragons managed to come back in the last 20 minutes, but unfortunately, they did not manage to fully fill the gap and ended up 3 points short.
Despite the disappointing result, the Dragons showed a much better face than last week. Many improvements could be observed in the team's attitude. There is still some room for improvement, but we are confident that the Dragons will soon find the path to victory, hopefully on the 28th September against the RT Münster.

It is in Münster that our women's team participated to the first tournament of the season. They started strong with a win for their first game against Bonn/Bielefeld, but did not manage to repeat against a stronger team of Köln. In the play-off, the Düsseldorf players lost the game against the team of Münster (winner of the tournament) as well as their game for the third place. They anyhow were happy to reach the fourth place and hope to do better in the next tournament which will take place at home on the 12th October 2024.

On the children side, our young players had a great tournament on Sunday. Around 100 children took part in their respective age group games. Both our U8 and U10 did very well and managed to win their competition. Our U12 players won one game on the two ones they had to play, which put them in the second place of their group. Congratulations to all involved players who showed great level of Rugby and made their trainers and parents proud.
A big thank you goes to all the parents who supported the organization of this great event and made this day of Rugby a success.
Some nice photos of the tournament from parents and from our photographer Gabriel Boia are available in the Photos gallery of our Internet site.
Enjoy.
