An action packed week-end for all the Dragons!

A must win for the senior Dragons men's team!

The weekend started on a sunny day with the men's team facing the RC Paderborn, a must win game for the Dragons to proceed to the playoffs.

From the beginning the Düsseldorf players stuck to the gameplan and played their structure. This resulted in two converted tries in the first half of the game. Although the RC Paderborn tried to answer with aggressive attacks, the Dragons defended very well and stopped them several times shortly before the try line. In the second half Düsseldorf managed to score two more tries and was in the position to score even more, but the RC Paderborn players did not leave them the chance. The Dragons were happy to benefit from a full bench to defend their lead. With the last action of the game Paderborn managed to score one converted try, ending the game on the final result of: 26:07.
With this result the Düsseldorf Dragons men's team reaches the fourth place in the NRW Regionalliga Group B which allows them to participate in the playoffs. The first playoff game (quarterfinal) will be away on Saturday 20th April against the Rugby Tourists Münster, the leader of the NRW Regionalliga Group A.

Fingers are crossed for the next win!

Thank you to all players from the senior women's and men's team who helped the organisation of this home game.

Our U14 did good in Aachen on Saturday.

On Saturday, our players were also involved in a U14 game day in Aachen.
The Dragons performed very well, winning their first game against Wiedenbrück 40 to 7. This win probably gave them a bit too much confidence at the start of their second game. The RC Aachen took their chance and ended the first half way ahead of the Dragons. But the Dragons managed to find their structure back and made a very good come back in the second half. Unfortunately, it was not enough for them to secure a second win and the final result was 24 points for Aachen to 19 points for the Dragons.
All in all a great results and some lessons to bring back home.

Two games to play for our U16 players.

Our U16 also had a packed week-end with two away games to play.
On Saturday they won their first game against the CL Vets/Bokkerijders/Wallaby's with a final score of 18:26. On Sunday they were not so successful and lost with a score of 12:50 against the Dukes JU 2.

Anyhow thumbs up for managing to play to full games in one week-end.

A record number of children on the Dragons pitch on Sunday!

The weekend continued in Düsseldorf on Sunday with the U8, U10 and U12 children rugby tournament.

The Bonn Rugby Union Club, The Grashof Rugby Club Essen, The Rugby Club Bonn-Rhein Sieg, The Rugby Sport Verein Köln, and the Rugby Club Aachen brought many players to enjoy a great day of rugby. With a total number of 175 young players on the Dragons pitch, a new record has been set.
The young Düsseldorf players did very well in this tournament with two teams competing in each category.
One of the Düsseldorf teams won the tournament in the U8 category and the second team ended at the 4th place.

In the U10 category, the Dragons managed to get the 3rd and 4th place as teams behind the two teams of the BRUC.
The Düsseldorf also won the U12 category with one team and their second team ended at the 4th place.

Once again, the support of many parents and players from the senior team in the organisation of this event made it a successful day for all. A big thank you to all persons involved.
We also would like to thank all the clubs who visited the tournament with so many players. It made the day packed with rugby games, which is what we want to see.
The great weather helped too 😊.

Many photos have already been posted in our photo gallery and more are to come. Special thank to our home photographer Gabriel Boia for his fantastic work. As result: some very nice photos that will make a lot of parents proud 😉.
