A very busy start of the season for the Düsseldorf Dragons

News-111-COVER

The season started already on the 1st September with a tournament for our young players in the Rugby Club Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.
As the season just started, not all clubs could manage to attend and thus not enough players were available in the U8 and U10 categories to have games. Nevertheless, the players who made the trip had the chance to play some fun games with trainers and the referee.
At the U12 level, four teams were available, the host team (the RCBRS), the RSV Köln, the rugby club of Worms and the Düsseldorf Dragons.
Although the Dragons welcome a lot of new players in the team this season and lost some to the U14 group, the newly formed group managed to play some very good rugby and to win their three games. Congratulations to our U12 team for this outstanding result.

Last weekend, our U14 and our senior men's team were both away.
Our U14 players had to play against the RSV Köln and the RC Aachen in Köln. Inspired by the results of our U12 players, the U14 also managed to work together as a team and secure to wins for their first Game day. Congratulations to them for this brilliant result.

For our senior men's team, the day was a bit more difficult.
The first game of the season took place in Solingen against the SG Rheinland team. The first half was largely dominated by the SG Rheinland. Too many penalties against the Dragons, too many missed tackles and a result at half time of 21-0 for the host team.
The Dragons started the second half of the game with a completely different attitude and managed to score two tries. In the last 20 minutes, this energy faded away allowing the SG Rheinland to win the game with a final score of 43-12.
A tough start, but many learning points for our men's team that integrated many new players and need to gain experience as a team.

Photos of these various events are available on our website gallery thanks to our photographers that you can also discover on our website.

The season continues next week with the first home game for our Senior men's team against the RC Paderborn on Saturday, followed by a home U8/U10/U12 children tournament on Sunday. Plenty of reasons to visit the club this weekend.
