A great week-end for the Old Dragons
On Saturday, the Dragons received the visit of 12 players from a Spanish team from Castellon, the Cementerio de Elefantes, a team of veteran players.
The team wanted to visit one of their old mates who has played in Düsseldorf for the past years. Supported by a few additional players from the Düsseldorf Japanese players, the Spanish team challenged the Düsseldorf Dragons Old boys supported by a few players from the RSV Köln in a friendly game.
Although played by players of more than 35 years old (with a few agreed on exceptions), the game was tough. Both teams were committed to win and fought hard to achieve that goal. In the end, the Dragons succeeded to score one more try that their opponent.
The day continued with a very nice third half at the Dragons club house. Players have had the chance to taste some really good Spanish ham and cheese as well as some homemade sushi joined with some local beverages. A quite rare mix.
In the evening, the party moved to the Düsseldorf old town were both teams could challenge each other at Karaoke on and out of the stage in our sponsor the Irish pub Mc Laughlins and also had the chance to discover and make quite an impression at our new sponsor, the Julio Guinness Pub.
Since our photographer Werner Thorenz was with us on that day, some great photos are available on our photo gallery.
We thank the Cementerio de Elefantes for their visit and hope we'll have the chance to meet them soon in Spain.
